The Sanctuary UK Yoga and Wellness Festival

24 to 26 July 2020

at Sparkford Hall in Somerset, UK

The Experience...

We are delighted to invite you to join us at our special UK yoga festival at Sparkford Hall, Somerset in July 2020.

Curated with the renowned team from the Sanctuary Thailand – our tropical home of yoga and wellness – this unique yoga and wellness festival will be a weekend for you and your family to relax, rejuvenate and celebrate in the glorious English countryside.

There is a fantastic Sanctuary experience awaiting you which combines the unique magic and people that have made the Sanctuary such a success since it first opened back in 1990.

The Sanctuary Thailand is situated on a remote tropical beach in the Gulf of Thailand and is the yoga, wellness & healthy holiday destination. Our guests and friends return year after year to enjoy a balanced wellness break where they can enjoy yoga, meditation, delicious food and wellness treatments & programs on an idyllic tropical island beach. Over the years we have attracted many international yoga teachers and launched several too.

After many requests over the years, we have decided to bring a taste of the Sanctuary Thailand to Somerset in line with our 30-year celebration.

We invite you to share this special weekend with us and enjoy a packed activity schedule designed by our yoga teachers from the island plus our favourites in the UK.

In line with the Sanctuary Thailand spirit, our 3-day yoga festival will be hosted in nature at its best. Set in 23 acres, shared only with a pair of tame Llama, a few tiny ponies and a brace of ducks, Sparkford Hall is a grand Georgian mansion in the rolling Somerset countryside. The hall was built in 1878 and respectfully modified in 1998 and now features a sauna and outdoor swimming pool.

Festival accommodation options include bell tents, vintage caravans, a female-only yurt dormitory and executive en-suite rooms in the main house. You are also welcome to bring your own tents or campervans. You’ll go to bed each evening and wake up each morning truly at one with nature.

A full vegetarian meal plan will be served to you over the entire weekend featuring three delicious and nutritious meals a day - classic Sanctuary style - plus fresh juices, raw cakes and more.

Your itinerary at the festival can be as quiet or as busy as you choose. We have programmed activities on all three days for all ages including but not limited to:

  • Yoga classes
  • Pilates classes
  • Meditation classes
  • Keynote dinner speakers
  • Breath workshops
  • Cacao ceremony
  • Massage therapies
  • Alternative healing sessions
  • Storytelling tree
  • Evening bonfire
  • Plus more activities to be announced very soon

Yoga and Wellness

Our festival schedule will offer a diverse selection of professional classes in yoga, pilates, asana and satsang, hosted by our current resident teachers from Thailand as well as some who were a part of the early years at Sanctuary including Peter Clifford, Sidhamo, Cathy Pearson and Lorraine Taylor.

In addition to up to 12 yoga classes per day, you can also delve into many on-site workshops and talks. Don’t miss the magical cacao ceremony or Breath Medicine sessions with Daisy Kaye or ThaiVedic bodywork massages with Sebastian Bruno.

There will also be a selection of exclusive healing and massage therapy sessions in our Healing Centre and many health-orientated pop-up offerings.

Out of class, you will have plenty of time and space to meet friends – old and new – over the weekend and enjoy the grounds of Sparkford Hall.

Glastonbury Tor is just a short distance away.

Accommodation

Just like at the Sanctuary Thailand, there will be accommodation options to suit all budgets from dorm yurt tents to executive rooms inside Sparkford Hall. There will be glamping bell tents and vintage caravans with all the trimmings such as duvets, pillows and bedside tables, plus plenty of pitch space for personal tents and campervans.

The outdoor accommodation area will be located in the beautiful orchard area of the extensive Sparkford Hall grounds.

While the tropical Sanctuary Thailand is a destination mostly for adults to escape the maddening crowd, our UK yoga festival weekend will welcome children with dedicated areas especially for kids to play and enjoy their own yoga. On-site child minding facilities will be available.
