We believe the gift of this retreat will allow everyone to achieve rest, balance and integration – thriving in the comfort of knowing the Sanctuary is home away from home and that the lessons learned here can be carried beyond the tranquil waters of the our bay
THE PLACE: POWERFUL SURROUNDINGS
The Sanctuary is a place of refuge, a place to reconnect with you, to simply ‘be’, a place to explore all aspects of the self through self-care, healing, connecting with nature, and building intimacy and friendships. We seek to provide holistic experiences where a little madness and a lot of magic meets to create a confidence for ones transformative life journey.
Awareness of the power of Relaxation, Yoga, and Nature are just the beginning of what guests may experience with us at this bay. We are a recharging point on life’s journey, offering time for softening, indulging a little while creating an opportunity to reawaken your senses, The Sanctuary ultimately holds space for people to thrive, feel alive and learn ways to maintain a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life.
OUR LAND AND WATER
We are located on Koh Pha Ngan island, tucked away on a remote beach called Haad Tien. Named after the local Tien trees that grow along our beach line. These trees are hundreds of years old and very similar to the ‘Tree of Life’. They are said to offer healing properties, renewal, protection, growth and luck as they connect the land and the sea. The sea here in the Gulf of Thailand can be very cleansing and calm in the quiet season, though has its moments of raw and powerful energy in monsoon times thereby encompassing both the masculine and feminine energies of nature. On a clear day, this cove is one of the best spots to snorkel with many beautiful corals and vibrant marine life.
A juxtaposition to the concrete jungle most live in these days .The jungle here permits you to stand still. Still enough to observe life all around you. Still enough for you to in the Here & Now….with YOU.
“LOST” By David Wagoner (1999)
Stand still. The trees ahead and bushes beside you
Are not lost. Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger,
Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes. Listen. It answers,
I have made this place around you.
If you leave it, you may come back again, saying Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you,
You are surely lost. Stand still. The forest knows
Where you are. You must let it find you.
THE ROCKS AND CRYSTALS
Our resort is built on natural granite quartz crystals rock. The ocean tumbled granite is quite unique in that it combines both the element of water and earth, flowing yet deeply rooted, expanding in the duality of emotions and practicality. The granite grounds us and keeps us focused while at the same time allows us to flow and overcome obstacles. you cannot help but be embraced by its energy.
THE PEOPLE / COMMUNITY / STAFF
The staff here are a wonderful mix of Thais from the North/East of Thailand, Karen refugees from the north of Thailand and Burmese migrant workers, all part of our Sanctuary Family . The Sanctuary has been a small family run business since 1991 welcoming all who make it to our remote bay while more recently opening our doors to everyone through social media. This is a place where staff and guests become friends and where friends reunite year after year. No matter where you are from, what you do, and who you are – we all dance to the same rhythm and beat. It’s a family, a community of accepting people where anything is possible and magic does happen! :)
